Filipino Fiesta & Parade

The Annual Filipino Fiesta, the largest cultural event of the Filipino community in Hawaii, has been scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Kapiolani Park in Waikiki. This will be the 18th edition of a festival that showcases the varied aspects of Filipino history and culture. The theme is "Lakbay Kultura " (Cultural Journey).

The event will feature a historical-cultural parade from Fort DeRussy to Kapiolani Park in the morning, which will showcase marching bands, colorful floats, cultural groups, street dancers, various business, community organizations and also "Flores de Mayo" will be in the parade. An all-day Fiesta will follow the parade at the Kapiolani Park and will have a bevy of local and Philippine entertainers, cultural village showcasing the various regions of the Philippines, food booths, a keiki village, and business and non-profit booths.

The fiesta is sponsored by the Filipino Community Center in the collaboration with the Congress of Visayan Organizations, the Honolulu Filipino Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Oahu Filipino Community Council, and the United Filipino Council of Hawaii. Chairing the event is Jun Colmenares.
